As a recent court-appointee to represent indigent criminal appellants in the District of Columbia Court of Appeals under the Criminal Justice Act, Aaron assists the law firm in its appellate, criminal law, and complex civil practices. His relevant experience includes the development of amicus curiae briefs and providing legal counsel to individual, organizational, and community-based clients on a variety of complex international law, human rights, public interest, and environmental matters. He is Managing Attorney of Forum Nobis, a public interest law firm helping individuals and communities address issues of international law, human rights, and the environment in the forums of law, policy and opinion. Before joining Forum Nobis, Aaron was with the law firm Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP, where he specialized in investment treaty arbitration and human rights litigation.
With a background in journalism, Aaron received his law degree from the University of Michigan Law School. He is a member of the Bar of the Court of Appeals of the District of Columbia and the Bars of the United States District Court and Court of Appeals of the District of Columbia. He is also an Adjunct Professor of international human rights and environmental law at the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law. Aaron joined the Gowen Group as an of counsel attorney in 2013.
